A post containing the image of the 2022 online voting results for the mayoral race in Cordova, Cebu falsely suggests that reelectionist candidate Didoy Suan had already won in this year’s midterm elections.
Facebook user Roland Dela Cruz posted the photo at around 5 p.m. on election day on a group named “Cordova Cebu.” The post’s caption wrote:
Congrats Mayor Didoy Suan
The upper part of the image displays the date and time it was captured, which was on May 13, 2022 at 2:47 p.m.
Suan is also facing three other aspirants in the current elections—Teche Cho, Sherly Pogoy and Jason Baguio—instead of four.
While the polls closed at 7 p.m., only the unofficial and partial results are available for both national and local elections as the transmission of election returns is still underway.
As of 9:54 p.m., Cordova, Cebu has transmitted 81.36% of election returns, revealing that Suan is currently leading with 30,708 votes, followed by Teche Cho with 12,831.
The post has earned mixed reactions, with some already celebrating in the comment section and their shared posts, while others have noticed the photo’s origin. (AC)
