FB photo falsely claims bread with hair served in SEAG

A Facebook page posted a recycled photo of coconut bread or pan de coco with strands of hair, falsely implying it was served at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games being hosted by the Philippines.

The Nov. 26 Bantay Nakaw Coalition photo was captioned with:

World class cuisine!

A reverse image search shows the photo was posted by Twitter user “king” on July 26, four months before the SEA Games. Its caption read:

Pande coco: Sa unang Kagat, B*lbol agad.
(On your first bite, there’s pubic hair.)

The image was cropped from the original larger photo. Also embedded in the manipulated picture was the official 2019 SEA Games logo, found on its official website.

The claim was made after Philippine Women’s Football team coach Let Dimzon called out the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) for serving rice, kikiam (quekiam) and eggs to athletes, saying this type of breakfast lacks nutrients.

In the same report, both the Malaysian and Vietnam Women’s Football coaches Joceph Jacob and Mai Duc Chung requested for more food from the organizing committee.

The Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 games is the 30th edition of the SEA Games, a multi-sport event involving 11 countries of Southeast Asia. (JRC, EEM)
