Kris Aquino victim of yet another death hoax

Actress and host Kris Aquino is alive and was even seen commenting on fellow actress Kim Chiu’s social media post on the day she allegedly died.

Aquino’s supposed death was announced by the Facebook page Philippines Scholar 2023 in a Jan. 3 post that was captioned:

JUST IN. MS. KRIS AQUINO DIED TODAY JANUARY 03, 2024  BASAHIN: https://bit.ly/47kI1Km 

The link attached to the caption redirects users to a website called LIBRENG AYUDA PILIPINAS instead of a verified report about the actress’ supposed death.

A reverse image search revealed that the photos used in the post were screenshots from a video uploaded June 30, 2022 on Kris Aquino’s official Instagram page.

Aquino, who has been a target of death rumors, was diagnosed with four autoimmune diseases and is seeking treatments in the United States.

She first disclosed her rare autoimmune disease called chronic spontaneous urticaria in 2018 and suffered from erosive gastritis and gastric ulcer in March 2022.

The former talk show host on Jan. 3 was seen commenting on Kim Chiu’s Instagram post about actress Angelica Panganiban’s wedding in California:

Thank you for visiting us. What a beautiful ceremony and how wonderful to have real friends like you and @bela. Best wishes to the Homans.

Chiu, together with Bela Padilla, visited Aquino in her home in Los Angeles, California on Dec. 30. 

Vera Files and Rappler have repeatedly debunked false death claims about Aquino throughout the years.

As of writing, the recent death hoax post garnered a total of 123 reactions, 23 comments and 27 shares. It was also posted in Facebook groups such as DSWD NEWS AND UPDATE and PRC BOARD Job Hiring and amassed a total of 1,227 reactions, 360 comments and 177 shares. 

Facebook page Philippines Scholar 2023 was created on Aug. 18, 2022 and has over 10,000 likes and 12,000 followers. Its posts revolved mostly around unverified job hirings, dubious scholarship programs and fake cash assistance links. (RL)
