A video from 2020 that wrongly tagged a render of a Norwegian bridge as that of the planned 15-kilometer super bridge that will link Mindoro to Batangas has resurfaced.
Behind Asia’s video titled "The Mindoro-Batangas Super Floating Bridge" has garnered more than four million views since its posting in August 2020, including a spike of more than 850,000 views from shares and other posts around mid-January.
A reverse image search shows the picture used to depict the super bridge is actually a render of a Norwegian floating bridge.
According to a master's thesis published in 2017, the render was a proposed design for a pontoon bridge crossing the town of Bjørnafjorden. The bridge is part of the E39 highway along Norway’s west coast.
The render can also be traced to a scientific publication funded by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
The rendered image was also inaccurately used in a video featuring the Roma Point Bridge.
The Department of Public Works and Highways says the super bridge is set for a feasibility study. (LA)
