Screenshot of Robredo’s video address doctored


A screenshot from one of Vice President Leni Robredo’s recorded public addresses last year has been manipulated to show her purportedly admitting that the “Dilawan” is scared of President Rodrigo Duterte and his allies.


Dilawan is used to refer to members and supporters of the Liberal Party that uses the color yellow. Robredo chairs the political opposition party.


A photo posted June 7 by Facebook user Salvador Ed shows a photoshopped still of Robredo’s address with the news ticker:

Breaking News: ROBREDO UMAMIN! DILAWAN TAKOT SA TEAM DUTERTE (Breaking News: ROBREDO ADMITS! DILAWANS ARE SCARED OF TEAM DUTERTE)!

The photo also includes the text overlay “PHNOW” to make it seem that a news organization had aired the report.


FactRakers traced Robredo’s image to her Sept. 28, 2020 recorded address in which she suggested COVID-19 response projects. She made no mention of Duterte or “Dilawan.”


There are also no traces of PHNOW outside of the doctored screenshot besides an inactive Facebook page of an online store and a personal Instagram account.


The feud between supporters of Duterte and Robredo has heated up as the May 2022 election nears.


Duterte’s partymates at PDP-Laban on May 31 adopted a resolution urging the president to run for vice president, giving him the privilege to choose his partner presidential candidate. Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in Duterte is still undecided


Robredo released a statement on June 4 that she remains open to running for president in 2022 but hasn’t decided.


Salvador Ed’s post has garnered 23 likes and 10 shares as of writing. It has been shared to a public Facebook Group called Solid DDS News Reports, which gathered 29, 369 members since it was created on Aug. 27, 2020. (AY)
