Guinea convoy misused as Moro groups backing Duterte

A TikTok post has misused a video of Guinea President Mamady Doumbouya’s convoy in the country’s capital Conakry, saying it showed Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Moro National Liberation Front members on their way to the Davao Airport to support Vice President Sara Duterte.

The text on the video uploaded by pro-Duterte user @ferraren.2.0 on Nov. 28 read:

Tinanggalan ng AFP at PNP ang PSG ng vice president. Ang MNLF at MILF  handang sumuporta sa vice president.
Dumating MNLF at MILF, humanda na kayo.
Paano sa 2018, si Duterte ang maging president tapos kunin PSG mga MNLF at MILF. Siguro sampal sa kanila tanggalan sila ni ng powers, tapos ang PNP sa bundok
(The Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police removed the vice president’s Police and Security Group. The Moro National Liberation Front and Moro Islamic Liberation Front are prepared to support the vice president.Be ready as the MNLF and MILF have arrived).

The text further said:

When Sara Duterte becomes president in 2028 and she appoints the MNLF and MILF as PSG, the PNP will be humiliated and serve in the countryside.

This video, meanwhile, was captioned:

update now: the MNLF going to Davao

A reverse image search of the video’s keyframes show that the video was falsely used in another claim involving Mozambique’s election protests.

It was Facebook page Ibrahima ibk Kanté "BON PROF" (Good Teacher) that posted the original video on Sept. 12, 2024 taken at the N1(Fidel Castro) Highway in Conakry, the capital of Guinea in West Africa.  It was captioned:

The arrival of General President Mamadi Doumbouya in Conakry, after his working stay in the People's Republic of China.

Details in the video can be attributed tol photos of the parade posted on Facebook by Présidence de la République de Guinée (President of the Republic of Guinea).

The Simandou 2040 posters, military GAZ Tigr vehicle and security details and the flag draped around Doumbouya are seen in both the original video and official photos.

Both the New Year’s Day billboard and Shell gasoline station are visible in the 2:26 mark of Guinean media outlet Vas TV 224’s video live stream of the parade. It was taken at the N1(Fidel Castro) Highway in Conakry, the capital of Guinea in West Africa.

The Presidential Security Command said it had doubled Marcos’ security following a press briefing on Nov. 23 where Duterte bared her instruction to assassinate the president, First Lady Liza Araneta and Speaker Martin Romualdez in case she is killed.

The Office of the Vice President said last July the PNP relieved her of 75 PSG security details because of limited manpower.

The TikTok post has been taken down as of writing, but several posts continue to claim that the MNLF has pledged its allegiance to Duterte and will provide security personnel. A YouTube video  posted on Nov. 30 used the same clip with an additional text that reads “Solid Duterte” is still accessible. (EN)
